WHAT MAKES OUR WATER BAKED CHEESECAKES SO SPECIAL?
There are 3 types of cheesecakes:
1. chill set - you get the powder, add water, stir and stick it in the fridge - the typical cheesecake sold in Europe and Mid East;
2. dry baked - the few baked cheesecakes that we have seen are all dry baked - typically they have a skin, slump and crack and are heavy grainy, cheesy, watery and gluey and;
3. water baked - to a serious American cheesecake eater a cheesecake has to be water baked - it's an old fashioned art practiced in the Northeast of America - like New York
From what we've seen we're the first people selling a true water baked cheesecake in Europe and Mid East. You'll find our cakes are very different.
Everyone proudly proclaims that they are selling an “American style” or “NY style” cheesecake. This is because the consumer perceives the cheesecake you get in NY to be superior. We do not sell American style – we sell the real thing just like you’d get if you were actually in NY. In America if you are a cheesecake connoisseur you search out a water baked cake.
Our cakes have the best features of both a chill set and a dry baked cake. They look like a chill set - flat across the top and without a skin - but they're baked. They're made in special ovens with giant water baths to make them incredibly smooth and creamy but with a unique freshness and light soft delicate texture (like a pannacotta or creme brulee) not heavy grainy gluey or cheesy like the kaas tarts you typically get in Europe.
Because they’re lighter they sell better.
Because the taste is not overpoweringly cheesy they can be topped with fresh fruit, flavoured whipped cream, caramel etc.. allowing you to use the cheesecake as an ingredient in furtherance of your vision and enabling the site to reduce inventory by buying just one type of cake and then topping it themselves to create a cheesecake of the day for example.
The cakes come frozen and pre-cut so there is no wastage. For some reason most cheesecakes are all crust and no cheesecake. Our product is nearly all cheesecake with a thin crust giving the guest more of what they want – cheesecake. We make ours with vanilla pods and real chocolate.
There are a number of additional unique features:
1. Alcohol Free - Most of the bakery sold contains traces of alcohol because the people soak the vanilla pods in alcohol to extract the flavour (you won’t get drunk eating a slice of cheesecake and we’re not suggesting other companies are doing anything wrong). However for some people even traces of alcohol are a major issue. Y3K has figured out how to extract the flavour of Vanilla without using any alcohol and we think this is a huge selling point for our product and our customers.
2. NON- GMO – Very big deal to Europeans and increasingly so for Americans.
