Everyone asks about our name. What does it mean? Where does it come from?
Y3K was initially formed to capture a gap that Y3K perceived to exist in the world of ice cream.
Ice cream technology and marketing hasn't changed very much over the years. Some brands sell snob appeal; others hippie farm ice cream and "like it used to be" - old fashioned farm or family recipes. Nearly all the products are made the same way to specifications that are taught over and over again in ice cream schools to food technologists and dairy scientists or passed down from generations.
We had a vision to break new ground and take it up a couple of notches by combining the innovation and intensity of flavour of the best homemade or restaurant product with the capabilities of a commercial operation to make a no holds barred eating sensation: Bigger Bolder Flavours, More Intense Truer Tastes, Layers of Flavours and Textures, Great Big Bricks of Stuff, Silky Smooth Textures without Additives, GMO's, or Alcohol. Do those things that the experts told us could not be done - like making an ice cream with a stupendous texture but without any additives.
And when we got going with our ice cream range we needed a new challenge and came out with our water baked cheesecakes.
We are striving to breach boundaries and want to sell our products with a bright fresh modern slant.
But you ask what does Y3K mean?
1/3 of the people thinks it means Y(year) 3K(thousand) - hence the tag line famous since 2999 - a bit of American humour in place where people proudly proclaim they are famous since 1982 (in Europe 1648). And the flavours - Cosmic Cookie, Space Junk etc.
1/3 of the people thinks it's a question - and we answer new technology, no additives etc.
1/3 of the people have no idea what it means or think it has something to do with everyone is curios and asks - a bit of fun - we'll let you decide
